The short version
We do not track you. There are no analytics and no advertising, and we set no cookies of our own. The site asks you for information in two places only: the contact form, if you choose to write to us, and the Madrasah Al Furqan parent portal, which exists so that parents can register a child with the madrasah. Both are explained in full below.
What happens when you visit
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, their servers receive your IP address in order to send you the page, and they may keep short-term logs for security and abuse prevention. We have no access to those logs and we do not receive any visitor statistics.
What is loaded from elsewhere
Being straight about this, because these are the only ways your details reach anyone else without you clicking:
- The map on the Contact page. That page embeds a Google map, so Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies. No other page loads it.
- The contact form, when you press Send. Your message goes to Formspree, the service that delivers it to our inbox, described below. Nothing is sent to them while you read the page or type.
- The parent portal, once it opens. Registering a child or logging in takes you to Teach 'n Go, the service the madrasah uses to manage its classes, described below. Our own portal page loads nothing from them until you choose to go there.
Everything else comes from this website. Our typefaces are served from here rather than from Google, and prayer times, events and talks are plain files on this site, so reading them involves nobody but us.
If you donate
Donations are handled entirely by GoCardless, a payments provider authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. When you choose an amount you leave this website for theirs.
Your bank details never touch this website. We cannot see them and we do not store them. GoCardless collects your name, email address and bank details in order to set up the payment, and their privacy notice governs that. The masjid receives a record of the donation and the donor's name so that we can account for the money properly, as a registered charity must.
The Madrasah Al Furqan parent portal
The portal is not open yet. Before it opens, the trustees will confirm the details in this section, including exactly who at the madrasah can see registrations and how long they are kept. Until then, nothing is collected through it, and parents register by WhatsApp or phone.
When it opens, this is how it will work:
- Who runs it. The madrasah uses Teach 'n Go, a school management service run by Teach 'n Go Ireland Limited in Dublin. They hold the information on the madrasah's behalf, under a data processing agreement, and are bound by UK and EU data protection law. The charity remains responsible for it.
- What we ask for about you. Your name, a phone number, an email address and an emergency contact.
- What we ask for about your child. Their name, date of birth, school, Qur'an reading level, and anything we need to know to keep them safe (such as allergies or medical needs). Health information is only collected if you choose to give it, and only used to keep your child safe.
- Why. To run the madrasah: to place your child in the right group, to keep a register, to contact you, to manage fees, and to look after your child while they are with us.
- Who can see it. You can see your own family's details in the parent portal and app. The madrasah's teachers and the staff named by the trustees can see what they need to teach and look after your child. It is never sold or shared for marketing.
- Payments. If you pay fees online through the portal, the card payment is handled by the payment provider Teach 'n Go uses. Your card details never reach the madrasah.
If you contact us
The contact form. Messages sent through the form on the Contact page are delivered by Formspree, a form service run by Formspree, Inc. in the United States. When you press Send they receive what you typed (your name, your email address, your phone number if you gave it, and your message) along with technical details such as your IP address, pass it to the masjid's inbox, and keep a copy for 30 days. Their privacy policy governs how they handle it. We use what you send only to reply to you.
However you reach us, by phone, WhatsApp, email or the form, we keep what you send only for as long as we need to deal with it, and we do not add you to any list.
Links to other places
Where we link to Masjidbox, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps or the Charity Commission, those are other people's websites with their own privacy notices. Following a link is your choice.
Photographs
We only publish photographs of identifiable people where we have their permission, and where a child is identifiable we ask a parent or guardian first. If a photograph of you or your child appears here and you would like it removed, contact us and we will take it down.
Your rights, and how to reach us
Under UK data protection law you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
