Madrasah Al Furqan
The masjid's own madrasah, where children learn to read the Qur'an and their deen, with groups for older boys and men and for women too. Classes are held at the masjid on Revesby Walk, six days a week, and run by the masjid's own charity.
Under one roof
The madrasah is part of the masjid
Al Furqan is not a separate organisation. It is the teaching arm of Attarbiya Masjid, in the same building and run by the same charity. Its name is one of the names of the Qur'an: al-Furqan, the Criterion, which tells truth from falsehood. It is also the title of the twenty-fifth surah.
Classes are at the masjid, 2 Revesby Walk, Nechells, Birmingham B7 4LG.
Run by Kowneyn Education and Cultural Centre, registered charity 1142204, whose registered activities are an after-school club and supplementary education.
The charity's policies on file with the Charity Commission include safeguarding, complaints, and bullying and harassment.
Classes and timetable
Some details are still being confirmed. The groups and times below are the madrasah's own, confirmed on 9 October 2026. Which ages go in Groups 1 to 3, the term dates, fees and places are still to come, so please check with us before relying on those.
Class times are being confirmed
Classes run six days a week, with no classes on Friday, in five groups: three for children, one for older boys and men, and one for women. Message us and we will tell you which group suits.
Term dates
Term dates for this year will be published here.
Registering your child
- Fill in the registration form
One short online form for each child: their name, date of birth, school and Qur'an reading level, and anything we need to know to keep them safe.
- The madrasah confirms a place
We will be in touch to offer a place in the right group, or to add your child to the waiting list if a group is full.
- Use the parent app
Once your child is enrolled, you get a login for the parent portal and app: attendance, messages from the teachers, and fees, all in one place.
Resources
Resources from the madrasah will be listed here: things to practise at home, recordings and handouts.
In the meantime, the masjid's recorded talks and Qur'an recitations are on the events page.
